How to Become a Biscuit Distributor in India
Biscuit distribution is one of the lowest-barrier FMCG businesses to enter in India: the products move fast, margins are thin but predictable, and manufacturers are usually willing to start you on a small territory.
1. Pick your territory first
Manufacturers assign distribution by area. Walk the kirana stores in the area you intend to cover and count how many already stock the brand you want to carry.
2. Work out the working capital
Expect to fund roughly three weeks of stock plus credit extended to retailers — typically Rs 2–5 lakh in rotating capital for a small urban territory.
3. Register properly
You will need GST registration and an FSSAI trader licence before any manufacturer raises an invoice to you.
